Why I love CoolPix.!

I remember the day when I said that I would never get a digital camera. Photography was never something I was totally into. Now, however, that is an entirely different story since I love taking pictures and exploring all the features of digital cameras. I have worked with a number of different cameras, but I can say that the Nikon Coolpix is one of the best in terms of price and durability. In fact, I now love attempting my own professional photography (and have highly considered looking into online photography school)!

I originally didn't expect much out of my Nikon Coolpix L20, but after a few months I began to see a big difference between this camera and the other cameras I have used. First, there is no wheel with which to change the settings. This is beneficial in that most wheels eventually get flimsy after only a few months of use. Instead, a single button opens the menu settings that allows adjusting between auto-mode, easy auto-mode, face portrait, different scene selections, and video. All media files taken with the camera can also be viewed by a convenient button on the top of the camera.

What I especially love about the Coolpix cameras is their great scene selections that allow for professional photography. I'll demonstrate with a few pictures that I have taken recently. First is the close-up setting, that takes great pictures as close as 2 inches away!

The sunset/sunrise setting accurately captures the blues and pinks that a lot of other cameras capture as oranges and dull grays.

The fireworks setting is one of my favorite, that has a shutter speed of about 3 seconds to compile the light of a firework's display.

The sports setting, one that I use much for capturing mid-air shots of snowboarding and motocross jumps, has an exceptionally fast shutter speed. The capture button can even be held down for numerous consecutive shots with about half-second intervals.

Lastly, the setting that I recently discovered to work quite well (unlike most budget cameras) was the night landscape setting. Check out this picture that I took (from inside a car window no less!).

Not too bad, eh? To top it off, I've found that the Coolpix L20 can withstand incredible amounts of vibration. This thing has been through about 30 rollercoasters, 40 dirt bike jumps (via an on-bike mount), and 10 snowboarding jumps! Gee, with all this footage, I'm now thinking about online game designing school! And guess what...not one error with the camera yet! Nearly every picture that is on this blog has been taken with the Nikon Coolpix L20 (with the exception of the picture of the camera shown above). ;)

For a camera around $100 and less, I am exceptionally pleased with the Nikon Coolpix. It seems to be almost invincible and takes outstanding pictures with all of it's settings. It has a very basic and understandable layout, yet it has advanced features. I highly recommend it!
