Why I love CoolPix.!

I remember the day when I said that I would never get a digital camera. Photography was never something I was totally into. Now, however, that is an entirely different story since I love taking pictures and exploring all the features of digital cameras. I have worked with a number of different cameras, but I can say that the Nikon Coolpix is one of the best in terms of price and durability. In fact, I now love attempting my own professional photography (and have highly considered looking into online photography school)!

I originally didn't expect much out of my Nikon Coolpix L20, but after a few months I began to see a big difference between this camera and the other cameras I have used. First, there is no wheel with which to change the settings. This is beneficial in that most wheels eventually get flimsy after only a few months of use. Instead, a single button opens the menu settings that allows adjusting between auto-mode, easy auto-mode, face portrait, different scene selections, and video. All media files taken with the camera can also be viewed by a convenient button on the top of the camera.

What I especially love about the Coolpix cameras is their great scene selections that allow for professional photography. I'll demonstrate with a few pictures that I have taken recently. First is the close-up setting, that takes great pictures as close as 2 inches away!

Earbuds

The sunset/sunrise setting accurately captures the blues and pinks that a lot of other cameras capture as oranges and dull grays.

Sunset

The fireworks setting is one of my favorite, that has a shutter speed of about 3 seconds to compile the light of a firework's display.

Fireworks

The sports setting, one that I use much for capturing mid-air shots of snowboarding and motocross jumps, has an exceptionally fast shutter speed. The capture button can even be held down for numerous consecutive shots with about half-second intervals.

Dirt Bike Jump

Lastly, the setting that I recently discovered to work quite well (unlike most budget cameras) was the night landscape setting. Check out this picture that I took (from inside a car window no less!).

Night Landscape

Not too bad, eh? To top it off, I've found that the Coolpix L20 can withstand incredible amounts of vibration. This thing has been through about 30 rollercoasters, 40 dirt bike jumps (via an on-bike mount), and 10 snowboarding jumps! Gee, with all this footage, I'm now thinking about online game designing school! And guess what...not one error with the camera yet! Nearly every picture that is on this blog has been taken with the Nikon Coolpix L20 (with the exception of the picture of the camera shown above). ;)

For a camera around $100 and less, I am exceptionally pleased with the Nikon Coolpix. It seems to be almost invincible and takes outstanding pictures with all of it's settings. It has a very basic and understandable layout, yet it has advanced features. I highly recommend it!

Professional Graphic And Web Designing With Xara

Haven't you ever looked at a professionally-made logo or header design on a website or blog and gotten hit with that mind-boggling question, "How did they do that?" What if I told you that you could make something professional without much experience at graphic designing? With Xara Photo & Graphic Design 2013, you can not only lay out high-quality designs as well as edit and enhance your photos with incredible ease, but you can also design, edit, or publish your website design directly from the software!

Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 2013

The most distinct characteristic of the software is its organization. The tools, effects, layers, and galleries are all neatly arranged and grouped together with similar features in a way that makes the program appear simple at first glance. The best part about this is that any user, whether amaetur or pro at graphic designing, will feel less overwhelmed in figuring out how to use the software. The cartoonish graphics of the tool buttons add to the look and feel that this is quality software that anyone can use.

It doesn't skimp on features to attain this, however. Instead, every aspect of the program seems to offer an endless supply of features and possible effects and designs. Up at the top of the tools list are the photo enhancing tools such as cropping, brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, sharpness, blur, and temperature. What's awesome about the enhancements is that Xara includes a "Compare" button so you can instantly see the before image and then you can go back to your enhanced image in one click. One of my favorites in this list is the "content-aware photo resize" that allows you to stretch or shrink any of the boundaries to the image while the primary contents of the picture are preserved and brought closer together. In my example below, the one on the left is the original image while the other is the resized using the tool.

Content-aware Photo Resize

For designing tools, there are options for freehand selection, shape tools, and line tools, all of which provide a great way to make any shape you have in mind, and with more than decent correction of curvature. The filling tool provides one of the simplest means of filling an object with gradients of just about any kind with incredible maneuverability. The transparency effect is just as simple to use. With a simple swipe across any image, object, or text object, you can create a gradual transparency on any angle or side of the image. Another one of my favorites is the bevel tool that allows any-shaped bevel with almost endless possibilities and options. Check out my photo with both the bevel and transparency effects.

Bevel and Transparency

The live effect tool contains some of the coolest features to apply to images and objects. Such effects as painting, liquid color, warp, motion blur, emboss, relief, as well as some plug-ins that feature fur, eraser classic, water ripples, or lattice composer make for great quality design features that anyone can easily apply to their images or designs. Check out this image with the Jama 3D effect applied.

Jama 3D effect

The best feature, however, is the 3D effect that you can apply to any image, object, or text. With one click you can manually transform a flat image into a 3D object by simply stretching the object freehand-style. You can alter the edge angle, light directions, depth, perspective, and so much more. I have simply not found a single program that matches this degree of flexibility in creating a 3D object.

Lastly, an awesome feature of the software is the capacity to create, edit, and publish website pages directly from the software. Because this is a graphic design program, your workspace is incredibly convenient in order for you to make your site everything you imagine it to be. Importing a url is also an option, that I found to work more accurately than with any other software. The best part about this web feature is that customizability options are extensive, with all the standard designing tools, guidelines appearing for the aligning of objects or text blocks, rollover effects along with freehand or aligned movement of text blocks, objects, or images, and the rotation of any object or text block complete with a movable point of rotation as shown below (with the text still editable after any fore-mentioned alteration).

Rotation Text

Impressed yet? Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 2013 is one of the fastest graphic designing programs out there, and is probably the most user-friendly in terms of layout and organization. It's lists of features, effects, and even sample designs offer endless possibilities for your creativity to feed off of and make a reality. However, if you're even more serious about graphic designing and web publishing, you may want to go with Xara Designer Pro X.
Xara Designer Pro X

Why is that? Because features and options not included in Photo & Graphic Designer are compiled into the giant software package of Designer Pro X. For example, this package takes advantage of your multi-core processor, making processing much faster depending on your system. Other features include PANTONE® color support, color separation support, PDF/X export, XPS support, JPEG XR import, the Panorama Studio, and lots of awesome website features like complete website creation, navigation bars and menus, pop-ups and slideshows, charts and graphs, website templates, presentations and webinars, as well as sitemaps. For a complete list of comparisons, click here. Check out a basic import of my main site page exported to PDF. Pretty awesome, eh?

What's the Snag Behind the Spyware

The concept behind the technology of spyware is that, a number of advertising companies take interest to install tracking software into the computer system, that illusions to call it host with aims to use all internet connections, get statistical or other information data to what they will claim "home" attesting assurance of company's security policies not to collect sensitive data for confidentiality, and with full promise to establish continuity of anonymity.

However, it is an establish fact that the PC functions as a "live" server that is open for any kind of information disseminations with or without the consent of the server; bottom lining the fact, there is always a risk for any transfer of any information even those covered by protection policies between the advertiser and the so called "mothership." In the end just as nobody would wish, it will be sending assimilated data that might escape the benefit of payment from the PC database.

Although spyware and adware could be two in one to front probable interference to the server's privacy, spyware could stage sole manipulation to indulge deeper in affecting the users privacy, prompting slow-down computer's effectiveness, windows' pop-ups of undesirable ads, and spam e-mails.

Several media companies are perennially seeking ways to eliminate large expense for web development and internet costs; but instead, tend to pay part of their revenue solicitations from reputable brands' banner sales to host servers by installing reputable piece software by way of so called "piggybacking," or tricking methods as the Trojan horse technique, installing some "rogue" anti-spyware program, eluding detection of its being a disguised security software.

A spyware no adware technology is an advertising copyright itself, can stand without having to do with any adware's vulnerability threats. The so-called "Web accelerator" or helpful software agents: Example, the Bonzi Buddy (quoted from: Wikipidea), targeted to children: "He will explore the internet with you as your own friend and sidekick. He can talk, walk, joke, browse, search, e-mail and download like no other friend you've ever had! . . Best of all, it is FREE."

This piece of copyright text is so deceptive for unknowingly, motives behind depict to pursue some ends in order to evade something that will disrupt the mobility of cash flow of the mother host.

Why is Spy ware Deceptive?

1. It does not self-replicate; instead, it invades infected computers for commercial gains purposes.
2. It monitors Web browsing activity (sales strategy) and routes of all HTTP to advertising agencies.
3. Delivery of pop-up advertisements
4. Theft of Credit and Identification card numbers in relation to the notorious identity theft around.
5. Spyware gets into the system by exploitations of other software vulnerability.

The Effects of the Spyware upon the Use of the Computer

There are so many complicated effects that are induced by spyware. It may not even be detected as an obvious virus infection, but comes in, a core factor of ineffective results of computers' performance; like network traffic, disk usage, CPU malfunction which may be mislead to be a PC crash, and finally resolving to replace the whole system with a new one.

The demand for technical support and assistance is another recourse for badly spyware-infected computers. Another option is to have a thorough "cleanup" of the whole system. It needs massive reinstalling on software in order to revitalize as new.

Printer Reliability and Satisfaction: Brother, Canon, and Epson Lead the Field

No one printer maker stood out in our survey of readers about their experiences with printer reliability and their satisfaction with features.

Our survey results show up-and-down results for many printer makers. Samsung received high marks for its printers’ reliability and copy speed, but poor ones for photo and graphics printing quality. Participating readers esteemed Xerox for its machines’ printing speed and network connectivity, but bashed it for their poor reliability. Only Canon, Brother, and Epson had especially strong showings in both reliability and feature satisfaction; and of those three, only Canon also graded high in service and support.
Highlighted in the three charts below are our survey participants' ratings of desktop PC manufacturers in three general areas: reliability, features, and service/support. These results are drawn from our 2011 Reliability and Service survey of some 63,000 PCWorld readers. The other product categories covered in this survey were desktop PCslaptop PCstabletsdigital camerasHDTVs, and smartphones. For a closer look at the methodology we used in our survey to gauge manufacturer reliability and customer satisfaction, see "Reliability and Satisfaction: What the Measures Mean."

Notes and Quotes

The printers section of our Reliability and Service survey prompted some vivid comments from participants, and we spotted a couple of significant details in the data, too:
• In the category as a whole, 14.2 percent of printer owner said that they had run into a significant problem with their machine in the past year. That percentage jumped to 27.6 percent when we counted only Lexmark printer owners.
• Overall, 6.3 percent of printer owners said that that their printer had developed a problem in the past year that was serious enough top prevent it from working.
• "I've used Brother printers for over 15 years at my office. They are workhorses and last a long time. I very rarely have any problems with them." --Brother printer owner
• "Reduce the noise. When it prints, it sounds like a dinosaur eating a helicopter in my room." --HP printer owner

Reliability

More than any other chart derived from our 2011 R&S survey, the one for printer reliability tells a story of extremes, with almost no middle ground. Three manufacturers (Brother, Canon, and Samsung) went a perfect four for four on the positive side, and a third (Epson) went three for four. Then there was a huge dropoff to Xerox, which totted up average marks on two measures and negatives on two others. The remaining five companies we charted (Dell, HP, Kodak, Lexmark, and Ricoh) finished worse than average on three of the four reliability measures. How did Epson manage to rate better than average on "problem on arrival," "any significant problem," and "severe problem," and yet reap only an average mark for "overall satisfaction with reliability"? It's a perplexing question.
